The Three Pillars of Influence
This event covers three major pillars, which you will need to master if you want to maximise your level of influence: presentation skills, the art (and science) of storytelling, and the ability to speak to camera.
Presentation Skills:
Having the confidence to speak from a stage is only the start, and this section of the course ensures you have the skills to make the most of any opportunity you are given to present. Influence includes essential powerful presentation skills such as:
- Understanding body language, including appropriate and effective hand gestures
- Effective use of eye contact
- How to spice up a talk with enthusiasm
- Using vocal variety to engage an audience
- How to involve the audience in an unscripted, exciting way
- How and why to silence the cynics in your audience
- And much more...
Storytelling
Stories are at the heart of every culture. They form the foundations upon which our attitudes and beliefs are built, and this is why storytelling and the art of persuasion and influence are so inextricably linked.
We use stories to draw people in; to shock, surprise, and move them with interesting plotlines and unexpected twists and turns that leave them sat bolt upright on the edges of their seats. Somehow, when we hear a story, we experience it at such a deep level that it almost becomes our truth, and any message that is embedded within the story becomes etched into our subconscious mind.
At the one-day Influence session, you will learn about:
- The science of storytelling – find out what happens to our brains when we hear a story
- Powerful openings – learn how to grab your audience with the first sentence
- Structure types – explore the best way to structure your story (clue – you don’t have to start at the beginning!)
- How to inject emotion into a story – and why you should
- Conflict – the best stories have a hero, a challenge, a villain, a turbulent journey, and a resolution
- Closing – make sure your final words leave them wanting more
- And much more..
